The Beginning of my Journey

I am new to blogging and I want to apologize in advance if I tend to wander and sometimes not make sense. I have never been one to journal but I thought now would be a perfect time to start.

About 2 years ago I read Emilie Barnes "Survival for Busy Women - Establishing Efficient Home Management". I was so excited to know that there was hope for me. I researched online and found that she offered a Home Management Binder and I splurged and bought it. When I got it I was slightly disappointed because about 1/2 of what she had in there I just didn't see myself using. But I improvised and used a little of what she had. But because it just did not completely fit my needs I did not use my "binder" like I should have and it kinda went by the wayside.

Then my husband and I decided to sell our house out in the country and move closer to his new job. We finally sold it and now have been living with my in-laws (of whom I love dearly) for the past 7 months. My husband is very big on being debt free except for the major expenses like house and car. So for the past 7 months we have been adding to our savings so that we can have an extra 20% to put down on a down payment and have extra for repairs and to keep some in savings for the "whatevers".

So we have finally found a new home which is 10-15 minutes away one way as compared to 1 hour one way. Plus we are much closer to church (10 mins instead of 1/2 hour) and friends as well as closer to library, shopping, etc. We are set to move in on Apr. 4 and 5 and I am so excited. So I have a CLEAN slate to work with. Before packing up the last house we had a garage sale of which we sold LOTS of junk we had collected over the 7 years. Our profit was a little over $500 of which I surprised my husband because he works out of town for 2 weeks at a time and I hired movers so that he would not have to deal with it. I can honestly say he was pleasantly surprised. Needless to say my husband would have had to have come home on a Friday, move all our stuff into our storage units on a Saturday and drive another 6 hours back to work on Sunday. This took a great load off of him. He liked it so much that we have put into our "moving in" budget enough for movers to move us again.

So anywhooo-My journey begins Monday, April 7. We should be moved in and I can start afresh and new. Stuff I will be working on:

Unpacking

Scheduling (right now we have a very haphazard type of schedule due to living with in-laws-so I can not wait to get back on some type of structure)

Homeschooling (I have a 3, 2, and 1 year old so it is very informal - we do mainly Bible story, flashcards, LeapPads, etc. - once I get them on a more structured schedule we will be going back to our Pre-K "curriculum" called Little Hands to Heaven)

Home Management Binder (for more info I HIGHLY recommend "Keeping The Home" a fellow blogger. She has been my inspiration to start afresh. The HMB University will guide you through making your own binder. You can also purchase her E-book which gives you more insight and print offs for your own binder)

Reading List (see my current reading list)

Bible Study (currently "Discovering the Treasures of a Godly Woman: Proverbs 31")

Container Gardening (because we are moving in at the beginning of Spring and already have a lot on our plates I will be starting out small this year and next year we will have bigger plot)

Well I will sign off for now and continue another day with more to update you in my "Journey"

This is a beautiful blog you started. Today's post was nice, and thank you for the very nice compliment about my KeepingTheHome website. :-)

Keep us in blogland updated on your move. :-)
Thanks for the nice comment. I will post as I can since I am a newbie and going to be especially busy; but as I said you are an inspiration that it can all be done in time. I have printed out your HMB ebook and have been trying to read it this week but to no avail. The most I got to was numbering each of the pages in case one of my children get ahold of it. Maybe in the next couple of days. Anywhoo got to go and research nosebleeds for my father-in-law. He had to go to the ER the other morn as one wouldn't stop. They packed his nose tight and put him on those dreaded antibiotics but his nose is still bleeding (he said he can still "taste" the blood as it drains down his throat and the packing is dripping blood every so often). We trust God but we are trying to convince him not to go into work tomorrow or Monday until he sees his Dr. Well gotta go. Nice "chatting".
