Please read! This will affect all of us who like to save a few bucks!

Dear Friends and Family,

I don't know about all of you but I'm a thrift store junkie. I hardly ever buy anything (especially my children's clothing) full price. I just can not afford it with 3 under the age of 4. They just grow too fast for me to shell out $25 on a shirt or skirt when I can go to the thrift store and buy about 3 shirts and 3 skirts for UNDER $25. This email affects me and may also affect you if you shop at second hand/thrift stores. February 10, 2009 (just a little over a month away) second hand stores (and us personally at yard sales or on ebay/craigslist, etc.) will no longer be allowed to sell toys and clothes for children under 12. It is even being read by some that we won't even be allowed to give this stuff away. This goes for clothes, toys, cribs, car seats, anything baby related, books for children, homeschool books, etc.

Does this have your interest? It sure has mine.

Just in the past couple of days I have been bombarded with different discussions about this act. Please take a moment to read some of the links provided. If you would like easy reading but in depth info I found this article (and it also involves CRAFTERS). At the bottom of this article in the first comment are links with sample letters to contact your congress member and senate.

For further info take a look at this link which explains briefly but also has links to the story in the Los Angeles Times and also directly from the Consumer Product Safety Commission: http://www.google.com/reader/view/feed%2Fhttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.mightybargainhunter.com%2Ffeed%2F?source=email

Collectively we need to contact our state reps and congressman for this Act to be "fixed" and we need to start "stocking" up on clothes, etc. I'm pretty sure this will not be considered an emergency so stores will have to start throwing away all of this stuff before February 10, 2009.

Please send this to everyone you know so that we can help our small businesses who make a living this way and for those families out there like me who are thrifty to save money and to "Go Green"!

You can copy and paste my post here or copy and paste this link to my blog which will take them directly to this article: http://reflectionsofheavenboundmomof3.blogspot.com/search?q=thrift+store

You CAN make a difference!

I saw this on the news last night. It even affects the people who sell toys online like Ebay. Anyone who sells children's toys will have to pay out of their own pocket to test for lead levels. This is going to affect everyone everywhere and drive a lot of people out of business.
